Grief doesn’t move in a straight line. It moves in waves.
You’ll be doing okay — maybe even having a good day — and then out of nowhere, a song, a smell, a date on the calendar, and the wave crashes over you like you haven’t cried in months. And you think: “I thought I was past this.”
Sweet mom, you’re not going backward. That’s just how waves work. They come, they crash, and they recede. Every single time, God is in the water with you.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you” (Isaiah 43:2, ESV). Notice He doesn’t promise to keep you out of the water. He promises you won’t drown in it.
In this episode, I talk about how to ride the waves instead of fighting them — and the steady hand holding you through every rise and fall.
Listen to the episode:
If a wave hit you today, let it come — and let Him hold you through it. Share this with a mom who’s treading water. And in the U.S. or Canada, 988 is there any time you need someone to talk to.
