Can we talk about the darkness? And I don’t mean the darkness of grief that comes afterward — I mean the darkness in this world that took our children.
The Bible tells us the devil “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8, ESV). That’s not just a metaphor to me anymore. That darkness prowled — and it snatched my child.
And here’s the cruelest part: that darkness is subtle. It doesn’t announce itself. It whispers. It isolates. It tells our kids quiet lies until the lies start sounding like truth — that they’re a burden, that no one would miss them, that there’s no way out. Inch by inch, it drove them to a decision that shattered everyone they left behind.
I’m going to be honest with you: this is a hard episode. It’s full of tears — mine, and probably yours. But I need you to hear the other half of it, because it’s everything: the darkness is real, but God is sovereign. He was there with our children in that darkness. When we couldn’t reach them, He could. They were never alone in it — not for one single second.
In this episode, I talk about the spiritual darkness behind suicide loss — how subtle the enemy’s work can be, and the God who was present with our children in it and is bigger than all of it.
