Let’s bust a myth that’s hurt more grieving moms than I can count: the idea that if your faith were stronger, your grief would be smaller.
Somebody, somewhere, decided that tears mean doubt and sorrow means spiritual weakness. So moms sit in church feeling like failures — not just grieving, but guilty about grieving. As if loving Jesus should have made them immune to heartbreak.
Can I just say it plainly? Grief is not a lack of faith. Full stop.
The shortest verse in the Bible is also one of the most powerful: “Jesus wept” (John 11:35, ESV). Jesus — perfect faith, perfect trust, perfect everything — stood at His friend’s tomb and cried. If tears were a faith problem, He’d have some explaining to do.
In this episode, I take apart this myth piece by piece and show you what Scripture actually says about sorrow and faith living side by side. Spoiler: some of the most faithful people in the Bible were also the most brokenhearted.
Listen to the episode:
Mom, your tears don’t disqualify your faith. They prove your love. Share this with a mom who’s been made to feel like she’s grieving wrong. And if the weight ever feels like too much, 988 is there day and night (U.S. or Canada).
