This episode is for the supporters — the friends, family members, church folks, and coworkers who love a grieving mom and desperately want to help but have no idea where to start.
Here’s the honest truth: she probably can’t tell you what she needs. Not because she doesn’t trust you, but because grief has scrambled her ability to think that far ahead. “Let me know if you need anything” puts the work back on her, and right now, she has no work left in her to give.
So what does she actually need? Presence over perfection. Showing up over saying the right thing. A casserole without being asked. Sitting with her in silence. Remembering her child by name months later, when everyone else has moved on.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15, ESV). Notice it doesn’t say “fix those who weep.” Just weep with them.
In this episode, I walk you through exactly how to show up for her — in the first weeks and in the long months after, when the casseroles stop coming but the grief doesn’t.
